AWE Diverter Valves

Wondering where your boost went? Power delivery not as smooth as it used to be? Most likely your engine’s diverter valves are to blame.

What is a diverter valve? A diverter valve (DV) is a pathway for boost when it is not being used by your engine. Whenever the throttle body is closed, like during shifts or decelleration, the boost needs an escape route. If the boost cannot escape during these times, it can back up and cause shocks to the turbos. These shocks will stall the turbos, slowing boost production upon re-acceleration (turbo lag). Even worse, these shocks can cause damage to the turbos. The diverter valves’ job is to open when the throttle body is closing or closed, and reroute the boost to the low pressure intake side of the turbos, where it can do no harm.

Years ago, AWE became the US distributor for Bailey Motorsport’s alloy diverter valve which became the gold standard of replacement DVs for numerous VW, Audi, and Porsche models.

However, the current 2.0T models from VW and Audi use a much more complex diverter valve, and the Bailey Motorsport unit is not a suitable or practical replacement.

Despite the more complex OEM design, the VW/Audi DV fails in the same manner as the older design, which results in serious loss of boost and power.

During development of 750+ hp turbo kits for Porsche models, AWE came across a Porsche factory DV that indeed can go the distance. They designed a few companion parts, and this DV in essence is now a direct replacement for the problematic VW/Audi unit. No permanent modifications are required for install and our Electronic DV Simulator plugs right into the factory wiring harness to eliminate any fault codes from tripping your Check Engine Light.

Simple and elegant in its design, yet made for OEM applications almost triple the power output of the stock 2.0T engine, this DV is a serious performer and has been extensively track, street, and dyno tested on multiple cars in multiple climates.

Install of the A.W.E. Performance DV is a simple half hour install procedure and it is the most economical solution on the market for the chronic DV issue.
